On December 6, 2023, 26 students from three northeast Ohio high schools traveled to the Ohio Statehouse to show their support for community solar access and for House Bill 197.

The students, from Cleveland School of the Arts, Lakewood High School and Laurel School, wore matching yellow shirts indicating their support for solar energy. They shared their perspectives in meetings with state lawmakers throughout the day and were recognized on the floor of the Ohio House of Representatives during legislative session. The group represents a groundswell of support for renewable energy from the next generation of Ohioans.

As Grace, a Lakewood High School student, said, “Lower-income communities could benefit from having more energy choices. These are people who do need help getting access to affordable energy.”
